How it’s worked out
- 13th month pay = total basic salary earned this calendar year ÷ 12 (Presidential Decree 851).
- Basic salary only: allowances, overtime, holiday pay and commissions don’t count unless your company includes them.
- It’s tax-free up to ₱90,000 together with other bonuses; anything above is added to your taxable income.

- On or before December 24 each year. Some companies pay half in May or June and the rest in December.
- Do I get it if I resigned?
- Yes. You get a pro-rated amount for the months you worked that year, usually with your final pay.
- Is 13th month pay taxed?
- Not up to ₱90,000 a year, counted together with your other bonuses. Only the amount above ₱90,000 is taxed.
